Please observe the following (continued) Vapors of Solvents Vapors of fluorinated or chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents will corrode the lamp and the quartz lenses – even in small concentrations. Avoid these solvents in the vicinity of the unit. If you cannot avoid them, place the unit as high as possible, as vapors are heavier than air. Explosive Zones This unit is not meant for operation in explosive zones.
High voltages are present inside unit. Field of Application (Intended Usage) The UV Wand System UVC 97034 is suitable for the curing of Loctite ® UV Products at industrial workstations such as in shops, laboratories, and automated assembly lines.
The UV Wand System is a high-power lamp system for the curing of UV adhesives. The lamp’s emission spectrum and radiant power capacity were designed specifically to meet the requirements of UV-curable Loctite ® adhesives and coating compounds. Absolutely dry and tack- free surfaces can be obtained very quickly.
Description (continued) 2.2.1 UV Wand System UVC 97034 This unit is generally equipped with "UVA + UVB + UVC + blue" band-pass filter which is integrated into the unit. The blue light serves as pilot light. When working with UVB and UVC extra precautions must be taken and operating personnel must be completely shielded from the UV radiation.

Installation (continued) Any lamp contamination which has not been removed will bake to the envelope and result in premature deterioration of performance. • Remove the knurled screw on the side of the lamp module. • Unplug the lamp module connectors and swivel the module backwards and then move upwards.
Installation (continued) • When replacing the top cover, make sure the control cam for the safety switch is pointing to the right hand side, otherwise the unit will not operate. • Connect the earth cable. The lamp contains mercury. Do not discard with regular trash.
Installation (continued) Handling of the Light Guide Wear UV protective glasses and UV protective gloves! 4.5.1 Handling Distance Generally a distance of 10 - 15 mm from the work piece is ideal. In some cases, the distance should be greater; in others the distance could be smaller. If the distance is too small, the adhesive vaporizes.
Different PLCs could have different output voltages. Therefore, it is necessary to adapt the voltages of the PLC to the UV Wand System 97034. For the input signals a resistor R1 should be mounted; for the output signals a resistor R2.
Protective Devices Safety Switch A safety switch is mounted in the housing where the control cam of the top cover interferes. Operation of the system is not possible when the top cover is removed or not correctly mounted. Removing, jumpering or over-riding of the safety devices can result in damage to the unit and is therefore prohibited! Excess Temperature Protection The UV Wand system is provided with a thermostatic switch for monitoring maximum...
