    Placing Originals This section describes the procedure for placing originals on the exposure glass and in the ADF. Take care to place originals after any correction fluid and ink has completely dried. Not taking this precaution could cause marks on the exposure glass that will be copied onto paper.

    Placing Originals on the Exposure Glass Place originals on the exposure glass. Important ❒ Do not lift the exposure glass cover or ADF forcefully. Otherwise, the cover of the ADF might open or be damaged. Lift the exposure glass cover or ADF. Be sure to lift the exposure glass cover or ADF by more than 30 degrees.

The last page should be on the bottom. Be sure not to block the sensor or load the original untidily. Doing so may cause the machine to detect the size of the scanned image incorrectly or dis- play a paper misfeed message.

    Batch mode In Batch mode, the machine copies an original of more than 50 pages as one doc- ument, even if it is placed on the ADF in parts. Press [Special Original]. Select [Batch] and then press [OK]. Place the first part of the original, and then press the {Start} key. After the first part of the original has been fed, place the next part, then press the {Start} key.

    Placing Originals SADF mode In SADF mode, even when an original is placed page by page in the ADF, each page is automatically fed when placed. Important ❒ You should make a setting so that [SADF] will be displayed when you press [Special Original].

    Mixed size mode When placing different size originals of the same width in the ADF at the same time, the machine automatically checks the size of the originals and makes cop- ies. Important ❒ When placing originals of different sizes in the ADF and making copies with- out using the Mixed size mode, paper might become jammed or parts of the original image might not be copied.

    This chapter describes the procedure for making copies in various modes. Basic Procedure This section describes the basic procedure for making copies. Important ❒ When User Code Authentication is set, enter your user code (up to eight dig- its) with the number keys so that the machine accepts copy jobs. See “User Authentication Management”, General Settings Guide.

    Copying Press the {Start} key. The machine starts copying. When placing originals on the exposure glass, press the {q} key after all originals are scanned. Copies are delivered face down. Note ❒ Always log off when you have finished using the machine to prevent un- authorized users from using the machine.

Left Original Beeper The beeper sounds and an error message is displayed when you leave your orig- inals on the exposure glass after copying.

    Job List Jobs printed using Copy, Document Server, or Printer mode are temporarily stored in the machine, and then executed in order. The Job List function allows you to manage these jobs. For example, you can cancel incorrect job settings or print an urgent document.

    Colour Functions This section describes functions that are used for colour copying. Selecting a Colour Mode Select a colour (or colours) that suits your originals and copying requirements. For colour images, refer to “What You Can Do with This Machine <Colour Func- tions/Colour Adjustments>”.

    Copying Convert Colours Copies by changing the Colour in the original to a different Colour. Important ❒ It is possible to specify up to 4 Colours. ❒ To use this function, [Full Colour] must be selected. ❒ If any other Colour mode is selected, you cannot select [Convert Colour]. Press [Full Colour].

    Selects the new Colour to be converted. You can adjust the density of each Colour in four steps. To select User Colour, press [User Colour], and then select the Colour. After selecting all Colours to be converted, press [OK] three times. Place the originals, and then press the {Start} key.

    Copying Note ❒ The width of the Colour to be deleted can be adjusted in five levels. If the Colour width is set to [Wider] and red has been specified, Colours, which are close to magenta or orange, will also be deleted. The Colour width can be adjusted in User Tools.

    Colour Balance Adjusts the overall Colour tone when the overall copy is reddish or bluish. Press [Edit / Colour]. Make sure that [Colour] is selected before pressing [Adjust Colour]. Make sure that [Colour Balance] is selected. Adjust the Colour balance by pressing [Lighter] or [Darker]. Press [OK] twice.

    Copying Colour Balance Program You can also store the Colour balance setting as a Colour balance program and recall it when you want to use it. You can store up to three programs. Note ❒ If you want to change the registered settings, register them one more time. In this case, the previously registered contents will be changed.

    Select the Colours you want to adjust. You can select up to 3 Colours. Adjust the Colour tastes using [←] or[→]. Refer to the Colour circle on the control panel. Press [OK] twice. Note ❒ The adjusted settings will be deleted and the initial values will be reset, when Auto Clear has been performed, when the {Clear Modes} key has been pressed or when the power has been turned off.

Press [Colour], and then press [User Colour]. Select the number ([1]-[15]) for the Colour you want to register. Select the Colour to be used as a base for registration from the basic and user colours.

    Copier Functions This section describes the copy functions. Adjusting Copy Image Density There are three types of adjustment available. ❖ Auto Image Density The machine automatically adjusts the image density by scanning the densi- ties of originals. Dark texture originals (such as newspaper or recycled paper) will be copied so that background will not be reproduced.

    Using the Document Server Following describes how to use the Document Server. Storing Data Following describes the procedure for storing documents on the Document Server. Important ❒ Data stored in the machine might be lost if some kind of failure occurs. The manufacturer shall not be responsible for any damage resulting from loss of data.
  • Page 170 Document Server Press {Document Server} key. Press [Scan Original]. Above operation sets up the user name, document name and password. When not changing a document name, the name will be automatically set. Set the original. Specify the original scanning conditions. Press {Start} key.
