V-Nail Size &
Placement
The Model T27577 accepts 5, 7, 10, 12, and
15mm long Universal Type V-nails. Prior to V-nail
insertion, apply adhesive to the mitered edge
and clamp frame into underpinner (see Clamp
Settings on Page 13).
Determining V-Nail Size
The correct V-nail size (length) is determined by
the thickness of the workpiece. To ensure a strong
frame assembly, V-nail length must at least half
the thickness of the frame. An easy rule of thumb
is to take your workpiece thickness, subtract 2mm
and then round down to the next available size of
V-nail (see Figure 9).
Use a test piece to gauge V-nail depth, or hold a
V-nail beside the workpiece to check depth.

Inserting Single V-Nail
For simple mitered corners on frames 2
or smaller, a single centered V-nail is typically
used (see Figure 10).

Inserting Multiple V-Nails
Multiple V-nails are typically used on frames
larger than 2
" wide. When inserting two or

more V-nails per corner, the first V-nail should be
roughly
the stock width from the inside edge of

miter (see Figure 11). The second V-nail should

Stacking Multiple V-Nails
Stacked V-nails may be used to reinforce irregu-
lar frame thicknesses. Inserting one V-nail after
another into the same position will drive the first
V-nail deeper (see Figure 12). Single V-nails can
then be placed nearby for added support (see
Figure 12).
