7.2 Removing the Card Stack from the Card Cage

To perform this procedure:
1. Disconnect the mains power supply and make sure all pumps are off.
2. Remove the front panel as described in Section 3.2 "Removing the Front Panel" on
page 3-3.
3. Remove the rear panel as described in Section 3.3 "Removing the Rear Panel" on
page 3-5.
4. Remove the side panel as described in Section 3.4 "Removing the Side Panel" on
page 3-6.
5. Turn the two screws that hold the card cage bracket and remove the bracket
(Figure 7-3).

6. Remove the P1 connector from the side of the chassis (Figure 7-3).
The release clip is on the left hand side of the connector. Press it and pull the connector
up and out. Be sure to take note of its location as it fits into other board connections.
The circuit boards are static sensitive devices. Wear a
CAUTION
grounding device when accessing any circuit board.
Disconnect power from the 979 before performing any
WARNING
maintenance procedure that requires physically disconnecting
any part of the system.
