Operation

Using Your Lawn Mower
Be sure lawn is clear of stones, sticks, wire, or
other objects which could damage lawn mower
or engine. Such objects could be accidently
thrown by the mower in any direction and cause
serious injury to the operator, others, or the
equipment.
WARNING: The operation of any
lawn mower can result in foreign
objects being thrown into the
eyes, which can damage your
eyes severely. Always wear safety
glasses while operating the
mower, or while perfoming any
adjustments or repairs on it.
Determine The Starting System
Add fuel before starting the engine, you must
determine the type of starting system that is on
your engine. Your engine will have one of the
following types:
Auto-Choke System: This features an
automatic choke that does not have a
manual choke or primer.
Primer System : This features a primer on
the engine.
Electric Start System : This features an
electric start switch on the handle.
To start your engine, follow the instructions for
your type of starting system.
NOTE: Equipment may have remote controls.
See the equipment manual for location and
operation of remote controls.
Starting the Engine
WARNING: Always keep hands
and feet clear of equipment
moving parts. Do not use a

Push primer three times. Wait about two
seconds between each push. See Figure
5-1. In temperature below 50°F,
times. After the engine is warmed up, one
prime may be needed for all temperatures.
If engine does not start, it may be
necessary to re-prime the engine. (Only
for primer equipped engine. If no
primer, skip ahead to step2.)

Move the throttle control lever to start
position.
3.
Standing behind the mower, squeeze and
hold the blade control against upper
handle. (If equipped BBC or electric start
system, skip to step 4. )

Pull the recoil starter lightly until
resistance is felt, then pull rapidly to
overcome compression, prevent kickback,
and start the engine. Repeat if necessary.
See Figure 5-1.
IMPORTANT: Do not allow the recoil starter
to snap back against the rope guide.
Below two steps only for the electric
start units.
5.
Insert plastic Electric Starter Push Key into
starter housing located on the right side of
upper handle until it snaps in place.
6.
Push the electric starter push key to start
the engine.
NOTE: Electric starter is equipped with an
internal circuit breaker. If unit fails to start
when starter button is depressed, wait one
minute for breaker to reset, then attempt
to start again.

Stopping Engine
1.
Rlease blade control.

Move the throttle control lever to stop
position(BBC equipped unit only).
3.
Remove Electric Starter Push Key if mower
is to be left unattended, stored, or serviced
(Electric Start units only).
To remove key, grasp the key's top push
button and pull it straight up and out.
Keep key in a safe place out of the reach
of children.
NOTE: Only BBC equipped units can be
startedor stopped blade seperately after
starting the engine.
Starting the Blade(BBC Equipped)
1.
After starting the engine,push the upper
handle downward around 10cm to incline
the deck up toward to make sure the
blades are away from grass. See
Figure 5-2.

Squeeze and hold the blade control
against upper handle, push BBC lever to
the end until heard a sound then release
it.
Stopping the Blade(BBC Equipped)

Using as Mulcher
For mulching grass, remove the grass catcher
and allow the rear discharge door to close the

do not cut wet grass. If the grass has been
allowed to grow in excess of four inches,
mulching is not recommended. Use the grass
catcher to bag clippings instead.
Using Grass Catcher
You can use the grass catcher to collect clippings
while you are operating the mower.
1.
Attach grass catcher following instructions
in the "Assembly & Set-Up" section. Grass
clippings will automatically collect in grass
catcher as you run mower. Operate mower
till grass catcher is full.
2.
Stop the engine. Make sure that the unit
has come to a complete stop.
3.
Lift discharge door and pull grass catcher
up and away from the mower to remove
the grass catcher. Dispose of the grass
clippings and reinstall the grass catcher
when complete.

WARNING: If you strike a foreign
object, stop the engine. Remove
wire from the spark plug,
thoroughly inspect mower for any
damage, and repair damage before
restarting and operating. Extensive
vibration of mower during
operation is an indication of
damage. The unit should be
promptly inspected and repaired.
