Blade Assembly

Remove blade assembly and adapter from
the crankshaft. See Fig. 6-3.
WARNING: An unbalanced
blade will cause excessive
vibration when rotating at high
speeds. It may cause damage to
mower and could break causing
personal injury.

It is recommended that the blades are
replaced in pairs as per the following steps.
a.
Remove each swing back blade by
wave washer and hex bolt (hardware
kit) which attach it onto the blade disc.
b.
Discard the worn blades.
c.
Attach the new swing back blades
with a new hardware kit for each,
following the assembly instructions
shown in Fig. 6-4.

Lubricate the engine crankshaft and the
inner surface of the blade adapter with
light oil. Slide the blade adapter onto the
engine crankshaft. Place the blade
assembly on the adapter such that the
side of the blade without a wing faces the
ground when the mower is in the
operating position. Make sure that the
blade assembly is aligned and seated on
the blade adapter anges. See Fig. 6-3 inset.

Replace hex bolt and tighten with a torque
of 38 ft/lb (52 Nm).
Minimum to 50 ft/lb (68 Nm) Maximum.
To ensure safe operation of your mower,
periodically check the blade bolt for correct torque.

Replacing Battery (If Equipped)

1.
Unhinge cover seal and remove battery
cover.
2.
Remove positive and negative leads from
Washers
battery, and pull up on battery to remove.
See Figure 6-5.

Replace with new battery. Connect the
positive lead (red) to the positive side of the
battery pack, then connect the negative
(black) to the negative side. See Figure 6-6.

Reattach battery cover and cover seal.
Charging Battery (If Equipped)
NOTE: The special designed plug on the charger
will only t into the plug on the battery box.

Unhinge the cover seal and plug the
battery charger into the port on the side
of the battery housing. See Figure 6-7.
WARNING: Batteries contain
sulfuric acid which may cause
burns. Do not short circuit or
damage batteries in any way. Do
not put batteries in re as these
may burst or release toxic
materials.

WARNING: The battery contains
corrosive uid and toxic material;
handle with care and keep away
from children. Do not puncture,
disassemble, damage or
incinerate the battery. Explosive
gases could be vented during
charging or discharging. Use in a
well ventilated area, away from
sources of ignition.

Insert the battery charger plug into a
standard 240V household outlet. Charge
battery for 8 to 10 hours before initial use.
Do not charge longer than 12 hours. The
battery should only need to be charged
upon initial setup, at the end of the
season, after any other extended periods
of non-use, and as needed.
NOTE: If you frequently stop and restart
the mower during each cut throughout
the season (for instance when bagging),
more frequent charging may be
necessary.

After charging, disconnect charger plug
from outlet rst, then disconnect charger
lead from battery and reattach cover seal.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the battery
pack from the electric starter housing for
any reason other than replacement.
IMPORTANT: Always plug charger lead
into battery pack lead rst, and then
insert battery charger plug into 240V
standard household outlet. Follow this
order of action every time you charge the
battery.
BBC Care (If Equipped)
WARNING:
When removing or
replacing the BBC, protect your
hands with a pair of gloves.
Periodically inspect the BBC for cracks, abrasion.
Replace when necessary.

Loosen the two nuts and pull the cable
from the slot. Remove the spring. See
Figure 6-8.
