DRIVE CLUTCH CONTROL
Squeezing the drive clutch control engages the
drive mechanism to the rear wheels. Releasir g the
clutch control stops the rear wheels from driving.
Release the drive clutch control to slow down
when negotiating an obstacle, making a ti rn or
stopping. See figure 18.
THREE SPEED SHIFT LEVER
The three speed shift lever is located on the drive
clutch control housing on the upper handle. See
figure 18. This lever is ued to select the ope ating
speed of the mower. Release the drive clutch con¬
trol and stop the mower before changing speeds.
IMPORTANT
Do not move the shift lever while
the drive clutch control is engaged.

is set with the wheels in a low cut¬
ting height position. For best re¬
sults raise the cutting position un¬
til it is determined which height is
best for your iawn. See cutting

BEFORE STARTING

WARNING l
The battery contains corrosive fluid and toxic
material. HANDLE WITH CARE. Keep away from
children. Do not puncture, disassemble, mutilate
or incinerate. Explosive gases could be vented
during charging or discharging. Use in a well-
ventilated area, away from sources of ignition.
1. Charge battery for 16 hours before initial use.
DO NOT CHARGE LONGER THAN 20 HOURS.
A CAUTION
Use only the battery charger sup¬
plied with this mower.
To charge the battery, proceed as follows. See
figure 20.
Always plug charger lead into battery pack lead
before inserting battery charger plug into 120 volt
standard household outlet.
After charging, disconnect battery charger plug
from household outlet first, then disconnect
charger lead from battery pack lead.
WARNING
Do not remove the battery pack from
the handle panel for any reason
other than replacement. When re¬
placing the battery pack, refer to
instructions in Maintenance sec¬
tion.
2. Fill sump with oil as instructed in the separate
engine manual packed with your unit.
