Easy Connect

About "Easy Connect" for TDP-TW100 series
1. Outline
TDP-TW100 has an ability to configure wireless LAN settings by using following functions.
1) Transfers wireless settings from projector to PC by using preset wireless connection and configures PC.
2) Configures a projector and a PC with setting data which is stored into a USB memory.
3) Switches a profile that customer registered to make a connection to a projector in advance.
These functions rest on the premise that a driver which controls network adaptor is based on NDIS 5.1 standard. They might not
behave correctly because of an environment, connectivity. Therefore, "Easy Connect" unfortunately does not guarantee operation
to all wireless adaptors in the market.
2. What's NDIS?
NDIS which stands for Network Driver Interface Specification was standardized by Microsoft. The network driver used by Windows
is developed according to this standard, and it provides procedures to communicate with "OS or application software and driver" or
"driver and network adaptor".
3. How to check that a wireless network adaptor is available
It is possible to confirm whether a network driver supports NDIS5.1 standards if Wireless Utility 4.0 has been installed on the PC. In
case that the network adaptor is not based on NDIS 5.1 standards, Wireless Utility says the following message when Easy
Connect starts.
Then, checking by the following ways is also possible.
1) Use application software
WLLNDIS Checker (Wonder Lab.)
2) Make sure that Windows Zero Config is available.
Windows XP configures itself for a wireless connection by using a network driver that is based on NDIS 5.1 standard. If
Windows can configure a wireless adaptor without utility software for it, the network driver may be developed according to
NDIS 5.1. When you choose the adaptor in the "Network Connections" window and open "Properties", you can confirm
whether "Wireless" tab is displayed. If so, Windows Zero Config is available. If you cannot find it, the driver does not support
NDIS 5.1 or the other utility which is kind of WZC is working. When the other configuration utility is working, its functions might
compete with Easy Connect.
4. Complement regarding the specification
Easy Connect is basically available in ad-hoc mode. Only when projector is configured by a USB memory which has been created
by a PC, a customer can configure projectors for infrastructure mode. As a result, it is unable for users to download wireless
network settings from a projector that is set for infrastructure mode.
5. Compatibility with TDP-TW300 and Wireless Utility 3.0
Although TDP-TW300 also supports Easy Connect, two setting items (Network authentication and Key index) about wireless LAN are added
in TDP-TW100. Therefore, when executing Easy Connect, cautions are required for the following things depending on the version of Wireless
Utility and the model of projector.
