3. Steps to Getting Started

Participate in Training
To quickly come up to speed on the NAVI features and functions, take
the NAVI eLearning course on e-Support. Technicians with the
computer skills to use the Service Support Tool have the appropriate
background to use of NAVI. This interactive course offers guided
simulations that step them through accessing and using NAVI to
service, maintain, and troubleshoot Canon devices. Technicians taking
the NAVI eLearning course will learn how to make NAVI an integral part
of their tool kit. After successful course completion, students will be able
to begin using the tool to resolve field issues in a timely manner.
Get the NAVI Files
There are two ways to get the files to start using NAVI:
• Download the necessary files free of charge from e-Support. It is
recommended that downloading is accomplished via a high speed
Internet connection as many of the files are large in size.
• Purchase the NAVI "Catch-Up" CD Set. The "Catch-Up" CD Set
contains the basic NAVI program and documentation as well as the
model files to add previously introduced models to a computer with
NAVI installed.
Install NAVI and start using the program. Here are the general
installation steps:
• Install the Core NAVI Program and any patches.
• Add Model support as desired.
• Add update Model Case Data.
• If you have previously issued Technical Documentation on CD-
ROMs, you can link those files into NAVI.
