(8.1) Introduction This instruction manual is for users of the TRUST 500F SPYC@M FLASH. This camera is suitable for making a maximum of 160 recordings. The camera has a 16 MB = 128 Mbit internal flash memory, webcam function, video function, automatic exposure, lens with a fixed focal length, an extra macro option and a flash function.
Close the battery flap again by pushing it downwards slightly and sliding it closed. The camera will turn on automatically. The TRUST 500F SPYC@M FLASH is now ready for use. Note: Inserting the batteries incorrectly may damage the camera. Note: If you wish to replace the batteries with other non-rechargeable batteries, only use alkaline batteries.
TRUST 500F SPYC@M FLASH Camera functions Buttons Use table 2 in combination with figure 1. Item Description Function Viewfinder For viewing the image to record. LENS + Focus ring Records the images to be photographed and can be used to set the image to the normal or macro mode.
5.1.2 Setting the resolution The TRUST 500F SPYC@M FLASH allows you to take photographs and to make videos in two different resolutions. For photographs: high (1248 x 960) and low (624 x 480). For videos clips: high (624 x 480) and low (304 x 240). The default setting when the camera is turned on is the high resolution.
TRUST 500F SPYC@M FLASH 5.1.3 Setting the flash The flash can work automatically or be turned off. When the flash is set to automatic, it will go off when there is insufficient light. Carry out the following: Press the ‘Auto’ button (J, figure 1).
TRUST 500F SPYC@M FLASH 5.1.6 Using the automatic exposure You can take a photograph of yourself using the automatic exposure function. Use the mode button (I, figure 1) to select the automatic exposure icon (3, figure 2) in the LCD screen.
Click on ‘500F SPYC@M FLASH‘ to start the installation of the camera. Follow the on-screen instructions. The driver and software for the 500F SPYC@M FLASH has now been completed. The installation of the other programs is described later in this instruction manual.
Photo Express 4.0 is an image editing program that can be used to load and edit the photographs on your PC which you have taken using your 500F SPYC@M FLASH. This program requires 500 MB free hard disk space. Follow the instructions below to install Photo Express 4.0.
Windows 2000) NetMeeting is a program that is supplied with Windows 98 / Windows ME / Windows 2000. With this program, you can use the Trust 500F SPYC@M FLASH as a webcam (video conferencing). Windows XP does not have NetMeeting, but has Windows Messenger instead. To install this program, refer to your Windows XP instruction manual which is included with your Windows XP CD-ROM.
Only photographs taken in the highest resolution can be converted to 3.3 Mpix. Make sure the camera is connected and turned on. Click on ‘Programs– Trust – 500F SPYC@M FLASH – Trust 500F SPYC@M FLASH’. Figure 4 will appear. Click on icon A in figure 4.

TRUST 500F SPYC@M FLASH Close the Camera Manager and go to the location where you have saved the photograph. Open the file by double-clicking on it. The file will be opened in your default editing program. Note: Do not select ‘Enhanced’ if you do not wish to load the photograph with a resolution of 3.3 Mpix.
The TRUST 500F SPYC@M FLASH is visible in this window. Select ‘Digital camera’ and click on ‘OK’. TRUST 500F SPYC@M FLASH will now be seen for ‘Select data source’ in the top left-hand corner of the window. You may have other cameras installed on your computer.

You can use the Ulead Photo Explorer photo editing software to open the TWAIN window for the 500F SPYC@M FLASH. A brief description of how to use the Trust 500F SPYC@M FLASH in Ulead Photo Explorer 6.0 is given below. For a detailed description of Photo Explorer, see the program's help function.

Start: Start a new project and give the project name, file location, video format, etc, or select an existing project that you want to alter. Capture: Start new video recordings. You can also select the Trust 500F SPYC@M FLASH and alter the video and audio settings. The video image from your connected camera will now be visible in the main window.

Select ‘Built-in Mail Utility’ and fill in your ‘Mail Server’ information (given to you by your ISP) and your ‘account name’. Click on 'Next' to continue. Select ‘Trust 500F SPYC@M FLASH Video Capture’ as the ‘Video capture device’ and select the desired frames per second (fps). Click on ‘Test It?’ to compare the image.
