DATA Part
The DATA part contains the 10 bit, compensated and transformed data produced by the cytometer.
Each event contains data for the parameters specified in the TEXT part. The number of parameters
per event is specified by the value of the $PAR keyword. The order of the parameters within each
event is specified by the parameter indices used in the TEXT part. The parameter data has a 10 bit
range and it occupies 16 bits (2 bytes) in the file. The parameters are aligned to the byte boundary.
The data for each parameter is right justified with 6 bits of padding in front in little endian order,
meaning that the least significant byte goes first. The padding bits are used by the Baseline Offset
functionality. When Bit 15 is "1" it means that the Baseline Offset functionality is active for that
value and Bits 10 – 14 contain the original non-Baseline Offset data.
The following image displays an example of Baseline Offset data where 1 represents Parameter data
and 2 represents Event data.

Acquisition Protocol Section

This section contains the protocol used during data acquisition. The protocol offset is obtained by
reading the value of @ACQUISITIONPROTOCOLOFFSET keyword from the TEXT part of the FCS 2.0
section. The format of the acquisition protocol is beyond the scope of this document.

FCS 3.0 Section

The FCS 3.0 data set consists of three segments: HEADER, TEXT and DATA. This data set contains the
20 bit, uncompensated, raw data.
HEADER Segment
The HEADER segment contains the offsets to the beginning and end of the other segments as
specified by the FCS 3.0 standard. The standard also calls for an optional ANALYSIS segment. The
data files generated by the Navios cytometers do not contain an ANALYSIS segment and its offsets
