How does the Fall Detector work?
Worn on the wrist, the fall detector automatically detects a change in acceleration that is related to trips and stumbles, it then
monitors for the subsequent impact associated with a fall.
If a fall is automatically detected, the unit can be set to vibrate to alert the user that an alarm call is about to be transmitted
(vibrate alert on/off is an optional setting). An alarm call will be transmitted after a 10 second delay unless cancelled by the user.
If the user shakes their wrist within 10 seconds of a fall being detected the alarm call can be cancelled automatically (auto‐cancel
is an optional setting). When an alarm call is cancelled the light will flash GREEN.
If no cancellation action is taken the light will flash RED and an alarm call will be transmitted.
The large SILVER button can be pressed to raise an alarm call at any time, if it is pressed within 10 seconds of a fall being detected
a fall alarm will be transmitted immediately – the light will flash RED.
Due to the complex nature of falls it may not be possible for the fall detector to automatically detect all falls.
Users should be advised that if they are able, to press the silver button on the fall detector if they need help.
Wearing Options
The fall detector is normally worn on the wrist like a watch. To minimise
false alarms it should be worn on the least dominant side; i.e. a right
handed person should wear it on their left wrist and vice‐versa.
It can also be worn on the waist band of a skirt or trousers
by fitting the belt clip option supplied.
Fitting the belt clip option ‐ first remove the wrist strap by
unclipping the 2 black plastic inserts from the back.
Fit the belt clip part to the top and blanking part to the
bottom of the fall detector – see alongside...
