3 Notes concerning Installation and
Operation

3.1 Factory guarantee and liability

KACO SOLAR INC. grants a guarantee of two years on
KACO-proLOG, starting from the date of installation.
During this time, KACO SOLAR INC. guarantees the
proper function of the devices and free repair in the
event that a defect should occur, which we are
accountable for.
Should your device show a defect or malfunction during
the guarantee period, please contact your specialist
dealer
or,
respectively,
Guarantee claims shall be excluded in the following
cases:
- Use of the device for other than the intended use
(normal use)
- Improper use and installation that does not comply
with the required standards
- Improper operation
- Operation of the device with defective protective
equipment
- Manipulation of the device or makeshift repairs
- Influence of foreign objects or Act of God (lightning,
overvoltage, tempest, fire)
- Inadequate ventilation of the device
- Non-adherence to the relevant safety instructions
(VDE (Association of German Engineers), a.o.
- Transport damage
All guarantee claims shall be handled at the premises of
KACO SOLAR INC.. To this end, return transport shall
be effected, as far as possible, in the original or
equivalent packaging. The costs for these services
cannot be borne by KACO SOLAR INC..
Guarantee claims shall only be compensated by KACO
if the damaged device is returned to KACO together
with a copy of the invoice issued to the consumer by the
specialist dealer. The type label on the device must be
fully legible. In the event of noncompliance KACO
reserves the right to deny guarantee services.

4 Installation

4.1 Selecting the appropriate place of installation

The KACO-proLOG data logger should be installed in
the vicinity of a telephone or Ethernet connection and
110V mains connection.
To avoid damage of your KACO-proLOG data logger
or damage of your internal house wiring, please
observe the following rules when selecting the place of
installation:

The KACO-proLOG data logger must not be installed
outdoors or in a humid environment.
It must be protected against wetness and direct
sunlight.

The ambient temperature must range between
32°F and +131°F.

Boreholes must be away from other house wiring
connections, e.g. power, gas or water lines.

KACO-proLOG should rest evenly on a flat surface
so as to avoid damage to the enclosure.

4.2 Installation of the data logger

The device is suitable for wall installation. The
boreholes can be marked as shown in the sketch
below. The distance between the screws of the
suspension/support and the wall should be approx. 3
mm.
Place KACO-proLOG over the screw heads and then
carefully pull it down. Subsequently, fasten the lower
part of KACO-proLOG by means of a third screw.

4.3 Jumper switch

The KACO-proLOG board has three jumper switches,
which can be used to set the following operating
modes:
OPTO <-> BEEPER
The jumper can be set to OPTO or BEEPER.
OPTO: Only the D0 output is activated.
BEEPER: The D0 output and the internal beeper are
activated.
The BEEPER should only be activated if
the D0 output is used as an alarm output!
PVI <-> PVI+PVIgo
The jumper can be set to PVI or PVI+PVIgo.
PVI: The RS485 signal is only applied to terminal
"B A RS485". KACO solar inverters may be connected.
PVI+PVIgo: The RS485 signal is applied to terminal
"B A RS485" and RJ45 ports "PVI-go On". Now the
current sensors and solar inverters can be operated
together.
