7. OPERATION

To prevent loud switching noise, first switch on all other signal sources connected.
1
Prior to switching on, turn all level controls of the input channels to the left stop position to avoid a high
2
volume at the beginning. Then switch on the subwoofer with the power switch. The power indicator
lights up.
Adjust the desired volume with the level controls for the signal sources.
3
Adjust the desired volume for the subwoofer with the control SUB LEVEL.
4
With the control BALANCE, the stereo balance for the satellite speakers can be adjusted.
5
If the volume adjusted on the subwoofer and the satellite speakers is too high, the PEAK LEDs will light
6
up. If one of these LEDs lights continuously, turn back the volume control SUB LEVEL accordingly
and/or the level controls of the input channels which are advanced too much.
Adjust the desired sound for the master signal with the tone controls of the 5-band equalizer. By
7
adjusting the tone controls, the frequencies can be boosted or attenuated within a range of ±12 dB.
With the controls in mid-position, the frequency response is not affected.
To ensure that the speakers only receive signal parts they are specialized to reproduce, adjust the
8
cutoff frequency of the high pass filter for the satellite speakers with the control SAT FREQ and of the
low pass filter for the subwoofer with the control SUB FREQ; i.e. the signal is split between the
subwoofer and the satellite speakers.
To switch to mono operation, press the operating mode selector switch. The LED lights up. For stereo
9
operation, disengage the switch.
If an interfering hum noise can be heard without a music signal, a ground loop may be the reason for
10
this. The ground lift selector switch allows for interrupting the ground loop for the line input L/R IN and
the humming should be eliminated. For this purpose engage the selector switch (LED lights). Thus
signal ground and housing ground are separated.
Different distances of speakers to the listener may result in phase interference (certain frequencies will
11
have a lower volume). To compensate this, the phase of the subwoofer signal is reversible with the
SUB PHASE reversal switch. Test both switch positions to find the position offering the bass
reproduction of the highest volume at the listening position.
When operating the speaker system, please make sure that the loudspeakers always sound well. When
12
distortions can be heard, either the amplifier or the loudspeakers are overloaded. Overloads can quickly
lead to amplifier or speaker damage. In order to avoid damage, please reduce the volume immediately
when distortions can be heard. Always check the sound pressure level with a meter in order to keep to
the threshold.
After operation, set all level controls to the left stop position, then switch off the unit with the power
13
switch. The power indicator extinguishes.
