TPA-MHL2-8R – Quick Start Guide
Use the procedure below to make the connections for running the compliance tests on an MHL sink device.
1.
Apply power to the TPA-MHL2-8R using the power adapter provided.
2.
Make the connections as shown in the diagram below. For this application you will be using the section on the
TPA-MHL2-8R labeled HDMI MHL – MHL SINK DUT.

Connect an HDMI cable from an HDMI source device (Quantum Data 980 Video Generator module shown
in the example above) to the HDMI IN connector of the HDMI MHL – MHL SINK DUT block on the TPA-
MHL2-8R.
Connect an MHL cable from the MHL OUT TO DUT connector on the HDMI MHL – MHL SINK DUT

3.
If you wish to test 1080p60 you will need to put the TPA into the Packed Pixel mode using either the 980 with the
HDMI Video Generator module or the 882. Refer to the Quantum Data website for the 980 User Guides or 882E
User Guides in order to determine the commands necessary to put the TPA-MHL2-8R into the Packed Pixel
mode.
