F1 quick start guide F1 VARIO+GPS+BLUETOOTH mode Push the “B” button until F1 beeps once, then twice and finally three times, at this point push the “A” button the F1 will signal a power up with a “puiiii” sound, now release both buttons. In this mode F1 is ready to accept Bluetooth connections, including bonding with new devices. F1s’ Bluetooth operates in slave mode will bond automatically. To bond a device, select the “connect to a new device” on the device you are trying to connect to F1, searching for the FlymasterF1. F1 will request a PIN, you will find this PIN inside F1’s battery compartment. Switching off the F1 Push the “B” button, F1 will go through the various available operation mode selections, when you hear the “Dih‐Dah” sound, push the “A” button. F1 will signal a power down with a “piuuuu”, sound, both buttons should now be released. If F1 is connected via Bluetooth or RS232 to a navigation application like NAV+, it will inform it that power is going down, so the application will correctly disable the communications port. Switching between operation modes When F1 is powered up, pushing the “B” button will cause F1 to signal with beeps, the various available operation modes. If you wish to switch mode, push the “A” button after you hear the desired amount of beeps. For example: If you where using F1 with the VARIO only mode and wished to switch to VARIO+GPS+BLUETOOTH, push the “B” button, until F1 emits a “Dih‐Dih‐Dih”, at this point push the “A” button to confirm the mode change. Setting the VARIO audio level F1 has four audio levels, Loud, Medium, Low and Off. When pushing the “A” button for over 1 second you will hear a “Dih‐Dih‐Dih” at the newly select sound level. When the “no sound” is reach you will hear a “Dih‐Dah‐Doh”, indicating that F1 will now be totally quiet. Note that the selected sound level is remembered even when you switch the unit off, i.e. when you power up the unit again it will remain at the previously set audio level. Document version 0.5 3 ...

F1 quick start guide LED indicators F1 has three dual colour LED indicators showing its’ current state of operation. The LEDS are made to flash briefly to conserve power. 1‐ Power status LED This led indicated the unit is switched on, and what battery bank is in use. Red color indicates bank 1 is in use while yellow indicates bank 2. On powering up F1 automatically selects the bank with lowest voltage, thus draining semi‐used batteries first. Should the voltage on the battery bank in use drop bellow the minimum threshold, it will automatically switch to the alternate battery bank. 2‐ GPS status When F1s’ operation mode is has activated the GPS this LED will switch on, yellow indicating no GPS fix and red indicating the GPS has a position fix. Once a GPS fix is acquired the F1 will automatically start recording position data to its’ internal data logger. 3‐ Bluetooth status The Bluetooth led will be lit when F1 is in the VARIO+GPS+BLUETOOTH mode, a yellow colour indicates the Bluetooth is ready to accept incoming connections, a red indicates it is connected to another device.
