The Extech Instruments CO240 may not be measuring temperature and humidity due to one or more of the following reasons:

1. The device is not in the correct mode. Use the MODE button to switch to the appropriate display for temperature and humidity readings.

2. The sensor may be malfunctioning or obstructed. Ensure the sensor area is clean and not blocked.

3. The device may not be powered correctly. Check the AAA batteries or AC adaptor to ensure proper power supply.

4. The environmental conditions may be outside the specified operating range: temperature (−20 to 50°C) and humidity (0 to 95% RH, non-condensing).

5. The device may need to be reset or calibrated. Use the SET + UNIT buttons to enter calibration mode.

If none of these conditions apply, the device may require servicing.
