Approvals
Risk of personal injury and damage to property.
In hazardous areas injury to persons and damage to property can occur, if you disconnect
plug-in connections during operation.
In hazardous areas, turn of the power to the device before disconnecting plug-in
connections.
Special conditions
1. Set up the devices so that the risk of mechanical hazards is low.
2. Keep to the technical specifications of the products, specified in the EC Type Examination
Certificate:
– Power supply SCALANCE XP-200
– Input and output currents
– Ambient temperatures
3. Do not connect or disconnect the M12 connectors for Ethernet when the power is on.
4. Use the following cables with even connector outlets to wire the different M12 interfaces:
– Ethernet: SIEMENS, article number 6XV1 871-5T, 6XV1 870-8A, see section "Product
– Supply voltage: SIEMENS, article number 6XV1 801-5D, see section "Product
The serial interface, the signaling contact and the M12 Power T-Tap are not approved for
operation of the product in hazardous area Zone 2 / Zone 22.
5. Protect all M12 connectors against unauthorized opening, for example with locking clips.
Suitable locking clips can be obtained from PHOENIX CONTACT
SAC-M12-EXCLIP-F or SAC-M12-EXCLIP-M.
6. Close all unused M12 round sockets with sealing caps so that they cannot be removed
with the hand. Suitable sealing caps:
– M12 protective caps for sockets (torque: 0.6 Nm) see section "Product overview
– M12 protective caps for plugs (tightening torque: 1.3 Nm) can be obtained from
