Oven smokes excessively when
broiling
Oven racks do not slide easily •
Glide rack does not slide
smoothly
Oven light does not work.

Meat too close to the broil element. Reposition broil rack to provide proper clearance between
the meat and broil element. Remove excess fat from meat. Cut remaining fatty edges to prevent
curling, but do not cut into lean.
Grease build up on oven surfaces. Regular cleaning is necessary when broiling frequently.
Grease or food splatters will cause excessive smoking.
This model comes with lubricated porcelain oven racks which can remain in the oven during the
self-clean cycle. Do not clean this vegetable lubrication off the racks. It is important that the
sides of the oven racks always have a light coating of vegetable oil. To maintain optimal rack
performance, re-apply a thin layer of vegetable oil to the sides of the rack after every self-
clean cycle or when the rack becomes difficult to slide.
Glide rack needs lubrication. For instructions on how to care for your Glide rack see

Be sure the oven light is secure in the socket.
Some models are equipped with a cooling fan that runs during the cooking process to cool
internal electronic components. It is normal for this fan to continue to run for an extended
period of time, even when the oven is off.
