CS 3500 Tools and Tips

Use the following tools and tips to help you acquire quality images:
Projection Light: When the guidance system is enabled with Feedback selected, a light is
emitted from the tip of the CS 3500 to indicate if the acquisition is correct. The light is green if
the image is scanned correctly and orange if the image is not scanned correctly.
When the guidance system is enabled with Guide selected, a green light means you can
proceed with the acquisition; an orange light means there is not enough overlap or the angle
of the CS 3500 is incorrect.
LED Ring Surrounding Acquisition Button: When the guidance system is enabled with
Feedback selected, the LED ring surrounding the acquisition button changes color to indicate
if the acquisition is correct. The LED ring is green if the image is scanned correctly and orange
if the image is not scanned correctly.
When the guidance system is enabled with Guide selected, a green LED ring means you can
proceed with the acquisition; an orange LED ring means there is not enough overlap or the
angle of the CS 3500 is incorrect.
Alignment Guide: When the guidance system is enabled with Guide selected, alignment
indicators guide you in acquiring your next image by helping to ensure the correct amount of
overlap with each image. A green indicator means you can proceed with the acquisition; an
orange indicator means there is not enough overlap or the angle of the CS 3500 is incorrect.
Capture Beep: When the capture beep is enabled, the CS 3500 beeps each time a scan is
attempted.
Reusable Collar: Use the collar when scanning anterior teeth to improve the image quality.

Tooth Preparation

Dry the teeth thoroughly before starting an acquisition.
Re-dry the teeth as appropriate throughout the acquisition process.

CS 3500 Position

To enable the antifog feature, place the tip on the CS 3500 and allow the CS 3500 to warm
up for approximately three minutes before starting the acquisition.
Hold the CS 3500 at a 90-degree angle to the occlusal surface of the teeth; hold the CS
3500 at a 45-degree angle to the buccal and lingual surfaces of the teeth.
Rest the tip of the CS 3500 on the tooth surface to steady the CS 3500.
When scanning a tooth, keep approximately a 30% overlap with the last image.

Acquisition Modes

Auto acquisition mode (default): Hold the CS 3500 at a 90-degree angle to the occlusal
surface of the teeth. When the CS 3500 is stable and the image is clear, the acquisition
begins. You can rest the tip on the tooth surface during acquisition to steady the CS 3500.
Live video is displayed on the video preview screen, and images are automatically acquired
and transferred for reconstruction.
Manual acquisition mode: Hold the CS 3500 at a 90-degree angle to the occlusal surface of
the teeth, and press the acquisition button on the CS 3500 once to acquire a 3D image. You
can rest the tip on the tooth surface during acquisition to steady the CS 3500.
