H230: high current stereo amplifier with built-in electronic crossover. Very
powerful, reliable and with good sound, it synthesizes HERTZ technical staff's
research and experimentation. Its small size permits to easily install it even in
narrow places; its great versatility allows its use in demanding configurations, in
a complete Front + Subwoofer Trimode system, for instance, or for driving a
mono subwoofer through its 24dB/Oct. filter. Its complete compatibility with
every source is insured by its being able to accept preamplified signals up to 5V
and high level signals for the head units that are only supplied with power outputs
(HI POWER). Its power reserve, low frequency control and timbre precision make
H230 the ideal amplifier to get high sound pressure and outstanding musical
performances.
POWER SUPPLY
H230 has two switching power supply stages, one separated from the other.
Each of them drives a channel in Dual mono configuration. They consist of three
pairs of MOSFETs each, that drive a toroidal transformer with oversize multiwire
winding.
INPUT SECTION
Input stage is provided with the special NRS ® (Noise Reduction System) circuit,
for totally rejecting noise generated by the car electric devices (alternator,
electronic injection, etc.).
AMPLIFIER STAGE
Driver stages are characterised by an extremely linear circuitry with very low
harmonic distortion and high damping factor; they have a transistor differential
amplifier. Power stages have Darlington configuration with high gain transistors
and high current bipolar drivers, which can supply 230W per channel in stereo
and 700W in mono.
CROSSOVER SECTION
H230 has a bypass electronic crossover made of two Butterworth filters with
selectable 12dB or 24dB/Oct. slope. The amplifier can handle any speakers
systems, even in mono configuration, through the filters cut-off frequency
independent adjustment between 40 and 150 Hz and by selecting the filter
itself (Hi-Pass/Lo-Pass). It is possible to handle preamplified outputs with a Hi-
Pass or a Lo-Pass mono signal through AMPLI MODE and PRE OUT MODE
adjusters.
PROTECTION CIRCUITS
H230 protection circuits consist of:
• a device against short circuit and against DC in the outputs, to protect
loudspeakers;
• a thermal sensor. In case temperature increases excessively, it stops the
amplifier functioning until optimal working conditions occur again.
