Turn up thermostat
Does the fan
blower turn on?
Yes
Does the switch
light energize?
Yes
Does the igniter warm
up and glow red?
Yes
Does valve light
energize?
Yes
Does valve open?
No

Find the source of the electrical
problem between panel and heater.
Is the light burnt out?
No
If so, replace.
Is the igniter

damaged?

Replace igniter.
Does the burner

ignite at all?

Replace faulty light.
Test for 120V at valve opening
period (usually 30 to 45 seconds
after power to heater). Is there
120V to valve for 8 seconds?

Remove obstruction
and lubricate fan.
Is the inlet or the outlet of
the unit obstructed (i.e.,

ice, birds nest, dirt, etc.)?
Remove obstruction.
Check voltage at igniter during
