    Getting started Telephone base installation Install the telephone base as shown below. Make sure that the electrical outlet is not controlled by a wall switch. If you subscribe to digital subscriber line (DSL) high-speed Internet service through your telephone line, you must install a ID problems caused by DSL interference.

    Getting started Wall mounting Your telephone comes ready for tabletop use. If you prefer to mount your telephone on the wall (optional), it is designed to mount on a standard telephone wall plate. You can mount the telephone base on the wall by positioning the top hole at the back of the telephone base against the top mounting stud [A].

    Getting started Battery installation Install the battery as shown below. If the battery compartment cover is on the handset, press on the indentation and slide the cover down to remove. Plug the battery connector securely into the socket inside the handset battery compartment, matching the color-coded label.

    Getting started Battery charging Once you have installed the battery, the screen indicates the battery status (see the table below). If necessary, place the handset in the telephone base or charger to charge the battery. For best performance, keep the handset in the telephone base or charger when not in use.

    Telephone operation Call waiting When you subscribe to call waiting service from your telephone service provider, you hear an alert tone if there is an incoming call while you are on another call. • Press /FLASH to put the current call on hold and take the new call.

    Telephone operation Chain dialing Use this feature to initiate a dialing sequence from numbers stored in the directory, call log or redial while you are on a call. Chain dialing can be useful if you wish to access other numbers (such as bank account numbers or access codes) from the directory, call log or redial list.

    Telephone operation Call log If you subscribe to caller ID service, information about each caller will appear appears on the screen, it will not be saved in the call log. • The call log stores up to 30 entries. Each entry has up to 24 digits for the phone number and 15 characters for the name.

    Answering system settings Answering system set up You must use a system handset to change your answering system settings. Answer ON/OFF The answering system must be turned on to answer and record messages. When the answering system is turned on, the /ANS ON/OFF light on the telephone base will be on and ANS ON will display on the handset.

    Answering system settings Number of rings You can choose from two, four, or six rings; or toll saver. With toll saver selected, the answering system answers after two rings when you have new messages, and after four rings when you have no new messages. This enables you to check for new messages and avoid paying unnecessary long distance charges if you are calling from out of your local area.

    Answering system operation Answering system and voicemail Your telephone has separate indicators for two different types of voice messages: those left on its built-in answering system and those left at your service provider’s voicemail. Your telephone’s built-in answering system messages and voicemail messages are separate. Each alerts you to new messages differently.

For optimum daily performance, return the handset to the telephone base or charger after use.

The battery does not charge in the handset or the handset battery does not accept charge.
