I am getting a voicemail symbol on my CS6129-41 phone even though I did not receive a call or get a message

The voicemail symbol appears on your VTech CS6129-41 phone when your telephone service provider has new voicemail messages for you. It can show even if you did not notice a call or message, for example, if someone called while you were on another call or your answering system was recording. In this case, the third caller may leave a voicemail, triggering the symbol.
