10.4 Keyboard

The menu entry Settings > Keyboard opens a dialog where the standard assignment for braille keys B7
and B8 can be determined. The Double Stroke and Auto Repeat functions can also be set here.
B7 Key:
The "B7 is Backspace" option means that when B7 is pressed in the word processor or in an edit
box, the character to the left of the cursor will be deleted.
To input braille dot B7 on its own as a character, this check box must be deactivated. It is
activated by default.
B8 Key:
The "B8 is Carriage Return" option means that when B8 is pressed in the word processor, a line
break will be inserted, and the cursor will be positioned at cell 1 on this new line.
To input braille dot B8 on its own as a character, this check box must be deactivated. It is
activated by default.
Double Stroke:
The "Double Stroke" checkbox activates or deactivates the double stroke function.
When activated, a space will automatically be inserted at the end of a word whenever you press
the space bar (right thumb key, B0) together with the last character input.
Auto Repeat:
The Auto Repeat function for Navistick check box provides an automatic repeat function
whenever the Navistick is held down to move left, right, up, or down.
When this option is selected, edit boxes appear in the dialog that allow you to specify the initial
delay and repeat rate, or number of strokes per second.
Auto Scroll:
The Auto Scroll function scrolls automatically the braille display when reading documents. You
need not to press on D5 each time manually.
When this option is selected you get an Edit box "Interval" where you enter the time in
milliseconds for the automatic press on D5.
To start the auto scroll while reading a document. Press D2 or D5 for 5 seconds. To stop the
function, press D2 or D5 for 5 seconds again.
If the auto scrolling is too slow or too fast, you can increase or decrease the speed while reading.
Double tap D2 to decrease the speed by 100 milliseconds. Double tab D5 to increase the speed
by 100 milliseconds.

10.5 Date and Time

In Braille Notetaker mode, you can check the current time and date by tapping system key S4 once or
twice respectively.
Changing Date and Time settings is done inside menu item Settings > Date and Time. Things that can be
changed include the date, time, date and time format, and the time zone. There are OK and Cancel
buttons as well that you can use to accept changes you have made, or not as the case may be.
Note: Be sure to use US English Computer Braille when entering date and time, otherwise your changes
will not take effect. Refer to section 3.1.2 in this manual for details about using the Master Switch
command to switch from contracted braille to computer braille, if necessary.

10.5.1 Setting/Changing the Date

From within the Settings > Date and Time, the first option on the list is Date. You will find a date on this
line that follows the format MM/DD/YYYY.
