Making calls
The following displays in place of the
number:
u
External, if no number is transmitted.
u
Unavailable, if the caller has not
requested Calling Line Identification
(CID).
Display with CID
If you have CID, then the name that is reg-
istered with your network provider for the
caller's number will also display. If the
number of the caller is stored in your
directory, the corresponding directory
entry replaces the CID display.

Silence

Using the speaker mode

In speaker mode, instead of holding the
handset to your ear you can put it down,
for example on the table in front of you.
This allows others to participate in the call.
Activating/deactivating speaker mode
Activating while dialing

Enter the number and press
the speaker key.

You should inform your caller before
you use the speaker function so that
they know someone else is listening.
Switching between earpiece and speaker
mode

Press the speaker key.
During a call and when listening to the
answering machine (Gigaset C595 only),
activate or deactivate speaker mode.
To place the handset in the base/charging
cradle during a call:

Press and hold the speaker key d
while placing the handset in the base.

Switching to mute

You can deactivate the microphone in
your handset during an external call.

Press key to mute the handset.
The display shows

Press the key again to reacti-
vate the microphone.
