decreasethegaintoreducethis.Ideally,youwanttosetthegainto
showthestrongestfishechoeswiththeleastamountofclutter.As
youchangethegainlevelsetting,youcanseethedifferenceitmakes
onthechartasitscrolls.
WhennotintheMenumode,usethelargeLeftandRightarrowson
thetouchpadtoeasilycontrolthegain.IfSonarPhonecannotfind
thedepthorthereturnsignalseemsweakonthedisplay,increasethe
gainleveluntilthereadingisstrong.
Usually,againlevelbetween30%and60%willsuffice,butincreasing
thegainmayberequiredfordeeperwatersorverysoftbottoms.For
extremeshallowwater,lessthan3feet,reducethegainnearthe
minimumsetting.
T-BOXONLY:WhenusingtheWide40degreeangle,youwillneed
turnupthegainhigherthanwhenusingthe20degreeangle.Thisis
normal,astheconeofsoundiscoveringtwicethearea.
ThissettingallowsSonarPhonetocontrolthedepthrangesettingfor
you.Itwilldoit'sbesttokeepthebottominviewatalltimes,
switchingdepthrangesasneeded.ChangethissettingtoOFFand
youcancontroltherangesettingmanually.
IMPORTANT:Whileusingmanualrangeoperation,ifthedepthis
greaterthanthedepthrangesetting,thebottomwillnotbevisible
onscreen.Changetherangetoadeepersettingorselect"Auto"to
returntoautomaticoperation.
Thissettingallowsyoutomanuallychangetherangesetting,meaning
howdeepSonarPhonewillreaddepth.Therangesavailableare:0—9
feet,then10footincrementsdeeperto120feet(0—3metersto
0—36meters)
TheUpperLimitistheshallowestpointinthewatercolumnwhichwill
bedisplayedonthechart.
TheLowerLimitisthedeepestpointinthewatercolumnwhichwill
bedisplayedonthechart.
Changingtheupperandlowerlimitsgiveyoufargreatercontrolover
