An emergency group call is a call that takes
priority over all other handset activities in the
handset making the call and sounds a special
emergency tone in the handset receiving the
call.
When you press the emergency button or you
receive an emergency call, the emergency
group call is passed on to the Location Assist
application that is installed in the handset.
This application starts at handset power up
and goes to background until an event is
received: either an alert notification you send
or an alert notification you receive from
another user who is in an emergency
situation.
Once the Location Assist application is
activated, it gets the GPS information from
the GPS feature installed in the handset and
sends that information to up to four
destinations.
30
calls
The first destination is a fixed IP address that
your service provider loaded into the phone
configuration. This destination can be a
central application which will inform other
services where the "emergency" was
originated.
The other three destinations are a group of
recipients that you must configure. Each
recipient is identified by its IP and/or phone
number. Using this configuration, the
application will alert the selected Contact(s)
about the emergency situation. For
configuring these destinations, see page
Such an alert comprises the handset PTN,
PTT number, location information and the
time of day when the alert was originated.
In addition to the GPS information, the
application sends the phone and PTT number
of the alert originator. The recipient can use
these numbers to quickly establish a call with
the originator.
