can't make calls
Is your SIM Card registered?
You will not be able to make your first call
until you have called Customer Services
to register your phone. Please refer to
Register with Orange in Section 1.
Is your phone switched on?
Press and hold the
button on
phone's key pad.
Is your battery charged?
The first charge should be for a minimum
of 16 hours. The battery symbol should
show the minimum battery strength.
Check the number you are calling
Use the full area code even if it is a local
number. If it is a premium rate call and
you are not on pay-as-you-go, you need
to call Orange Customer Services on 150
to have this service unbarred. This is
subject to a credit check and a deposit
may be required.

Are you in coverage?
Is Orange and the signal strength
symbol showing on the display? If you're
in a building, move nearer to a window
where the signal may be stronger and try
again. If you are a passenger in a car
without an external antenna, stop the
car, get out and try the call again.
Did you press the
key?
You must press this after keying in the
phone number.
Did you hear three rising tones?
This indicates a temporary call setup
problem. Try moving to another location
or waiting, then retry.
Did you hear rapid beeps?
This means that the network is busy. Try
again later.
Do you hear a continuous tone?
The number you have called is
unobtainable. Check it and redial.

Are you in coverage?
Is Orange and the signal strength

without an external antenna, stop the car,
get out and try the call again.
Have you diverted your calls?
This means that you have diverted all
your incoming calls to another number.
To cancel all diverts:

Use the Menu shortcut
7-1-5,
Cancel All.

Press under
Select, you will see
an egg timer followed by Call
Diverting All calls Deactivated.

All diverts are now cancelled.
Is there one-way speech only, or are
calls dropping?
Move to an area of better coverage then
continue the call. If this doesn't work,
end the call and retry. This is more likely
to occur in cars and buildings when not
using an external antenna.

When I receive a call the phone
doesn't ring
Does the back light come on when you
get a call? Îf so you may have set your
phone to the silent Light only profile.
To cancel this, change your profiles by
using menu shortcut
3-4 and then
selecting another profile.
battery
How long should I charge my battery
the first time?
For 16 continuous hours. Ignore the
battery full indicator on the display and
continue the charge. The phone can be
on or off whilst charging. If your phone
has been registered you can make calls
whilst it is charging.
Why don't I get as much battery life as
I should?
The talk time for the slim battery is two
hours and for the large battery it is three
hours. The standby time for the slim
battery is 40 hours and for the large
battery it is 25 hours. The phone uses
battery power whenever it is switched
on, even when on standby (switched on
but not in call). The charge will run down
when your phone is on. It will run down
faster during a call or if you are using any
of the functions, such as the games.
