Step 19. Remove the five screws that secure the motherboard to the chassis, and then lift the motherboard
up to remove it.
Step 20. To install the new motherboard:
a.
Align the five screw holes in the new motherboard with the screw holes in the chassis.
b.
Secure the new motherboard to the chassis with five screws.
c.
Connect all the cables to the new motherboard.
Step 21. Install the following parts to the new motherboard:
• Wi-Fi card
• Heat-sink
• Memory module
• Solid state drive if available
Step 22. Reattach the EMI cover, system fan, rear I/O module, stand holder, middle cover, optical drive,
hard disk drive, graphic card, rear covers and stand base.

Replacing the speaker system

Note: Turn off the computer and wait 3 to 5 minutes to let it cool down before removing the cover.
Note: It may be helpful to place the computer face-down on a soft flat surface for this procedure. Lenovo
recommends that you use a blanket, towel, or other soft cloth to protect the computer screen from scratches
or other damage.
To replace the speaker system:
Step 1.
Remove any media from the drives, shut down the operating system, and turn off the computer
and all attached devices.
