Brake
NOTE
If the vehicle is driven with some of the tyres having signifi cant wear, the system may
not operate correctly. If the tyres are returned to a normal state and the Smart City
Brake Support (SCBS) indicator light still illuminates, have your vehicle inspected by
an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer.
When the system operates, the user is notifi ed by the fl ashing warning light and the
active driving display
The indicator light turns on when the system has a malfunction.
Refer to Warning Lights on page 4-41 .
Laser Sensor Handling
The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) laser sensor is installed at the top of the windscreen
near the rearview mirror.
Always keep the surface of the windscreen around the laser sensor clean to assure proper
operation of the Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system.
As there is the possibility of eye damage occurring from the laser, always heed the
following precautions:
Never remove the sensor.
A removed sensor will not meet the conditions for a class 1M laser under the IEC
60825-1 specifi cation and therefore eye safety cannot be assured.
Do not peer into the sensor using optical instruments with a magnifi cation function
such as magnifying glasses, and microscopic and objective lenses within a distance
of 100 mm (3.94 in) from the sensor.
