Remove the ball coupling if the trailer tow
hitch is not required. The minimum detection
range of PTS to an obstacle refers to the bumper,
not the ball coupling.

Park Assist*

Risk of accident
Park Assist is only an aid and may not detect
all obstacles. Park Assist may not be able to
detect an object correctly near corners, on
slippery surfaces or in longitudinal gaps.
Park Assist does not relieve you of the re-
sponsibility to pay attention.
You are always responsible for safety and
must continue to pay attention to your im-
mediate surroundings when parking and
manoeuvring. Otherwise, you could endan-
ger yourself and others.

Risk of injury
Make sure that no persons or animals are in
the manoeuvring range. Otherwise, they
could be injured.

You must deactivate the radar sensor sys-
tem in certain countries and near radio astro-
nomical installations ( page 215).
Park Assist is an electronic parking aid
with radar sensors and assists you when
parking by:
giving you a visual display of the dis-
tance between your vehicle and an ob-
stacle
giving you an audible warning when you
approach an obstacle
Park Assist is automatically activated
when you switch on the ignition and re-
lease the parking brake.
Park Assist is deactivated at speeds ex-
ceeding 12 km/h. Park Assist is reactivat-
ed at lower speeds.
Park Assist monitors the area around your
vehicle using four sensors in the front
bumper and two sensors in the rear bump-
er.
