    TERMINOLOGY The following terms are used throughout the manual, and are standard terminologyamongdetectorists. ELIMIN TION Referencetoametalbeing"eliminated"meansthatthedetectorwillnot emitatone,nordisplayaTarget-ID,whenametalobjectpassesthrough thesearchcoil’sdetectionfield. DISCRIMIN TION Whenthedetectoremitsdifferenttonesfordifferenttypesofmetals,and when the detector "eliminates" certain metals, we refer to this as the detector"discriminating"amongdifferenttypesofmetals. Discrimination is an important feature of professional metal detectors. Discriminationallowstheusertoignoretrashandotherwiseundesirable objects.

RotatetheLOCKINGCOLLARfullyinthe counterclockwisedirection. Insertyourfingerinsidethetubeandmakesurethe INTERNALCAMLOCKisflushwiththeinsideofthe tube. LOCKING COLLAR INTERNAL CAM LOCK SILVER BUTTON MIDDLE STEM S-ROD MIDDLE STEM S-ROD InserttheMIDDLESTEMintotheS-ROD, withtheSILVERBUTTONpointedupward Rotate the MIDDLE STEM until the SILVER BUTTONlocatesinthehole.     THE BASICS OF METAL DETECTING 5. EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) Thesearchcoilproducesamagneticfieldandthendetectschangesinthat magneticfieldcausedbythepresenceofmetalobjects.Thismagneticfield thatthedetectorcreatesisalsosusceptibletotheelectromagneticenergy produced by other electronic devices. Cell phones, cell phone towers, power lines, microwave ovens, lighting fixtures, TVs, computers, motors, etc…allproduceEMIwhichcaninterferewiththedetectorandcauseitto beepwhennometalispresent,andsometimestobeeperratically. TheSENSITIVITYcontrolletsyoureducethestrengthofthismagneticfield, andthereforelessenitssusceptibilitytoEMI.Youmaywanttooperateat maximumstrength,butthepresenceofEMImaymakethisimpossible,soif youexperienceerraticbehavioror“false”signals, reducethesensitivity.
