Follow the instructions for maintenance and
changing accessories. Keep handles and
switches dry, clean and free from oil and grease.
20. Repairs
This tool complies with relevant safety
requirements. Repairs should only be carried
out by qualified persons using original spare
parts; otherwise this may result in considerable
danger to the user.
Additional safety instructions for circular saws
Wear safety glasses or goggles when
operating this tool.
Wear ear protection when operating this
tool.
Sawing
Do not use tools for purposes not intended;
for example do not use circular saws to cut
tree limbs or logs.
Always ensure that there is sufficient clearance
below the material being cut. Be aware of
hidden pipes and wiring when cutting flooring.
Remove all nails and metal objects from the
workpiece before sawing.
Do not attempt to saw extremely small
workpieces.
Always hold the tool with both hands and by
the handles provided.
Never use the tool with the saw blade facing
upwards or to the side.
Never put the tool down on a table or
workbench before it has been switched off.
After switching off, never attempt to stop the saw
blade by pressing against the side of the blade.
Immediately disconnect the cable from the
mains if it is damaged or cut.
Operational protection devices
Make sure that all devices screening the saw
blade are in perfect working order.
Never lock the moving guard in the open
position.
Do not use the saw if the moving blade guard
does not close.

If you need to move the blade guard manually,
always use the guard retracting lever.
Make sure that the riving knife is correctly
adjusted.
Never remove the riving knife.
Saw blade
Do not use blades which do not comply with
the specifications contained in these operating
instructions. Use only Black & Decker saw
blades of the correct diameter, thickness and
spindle speed designated for use with this unit.
Do not use blades with a body thickness
greater or a width of cut smaller than the
thickness of the riving knife.
Do not use saw blades made of high alloy,
high speed steel (HSS steel).
Do not use metal cutting or stone cutting discs
with this saw.
Only use sharp saw blades in perfect working
condition; cracked or bent saw blades should
be discarded and replaced at once.
Make sure that the saw blade is securely fixed
and rotates in the correct direction.
Kickback
Kickback occurs when the saw begins to stall
rapidly and is driven back towards the operator.
Release the switch immediately if the saw
stalls.
Support large panels near the cutting area.
Additional safety instructions for Australia and
New Zealand
This appliance is not intended for use by
young or infirm persons without supervision.
Children must be supervised to ensure they do
not play with the appliance.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised
Black & Decker Service Centre in order to
avoid a hazard.
The electric motor has been designed for one
voltage only. Always check that the power supply
corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
