Residue in ice cube

Fault
When ice cube is thawed, there are small white flakes in the water.
Water from water dispenser without flakes. Ice cube also clear
Cause
The flakes probably come from the water mains. These are
phosphates which are being added more and more to the drinking
water to prevent damage to the pipes. If the structure of the water
changes (e.g. by freezing or boiling), the flakes become visible.
Therefore, the flakes are invisible in water straight out of the tap,
however the water still contains phosphates.
Caused by water from water mains
Argument
Boil up approx. 1 l of water from the domestic supply and pour it
through a coffee filter.
Flakes visible in the filter.  Refrigerator not defective
