Updating transmitter firmware
mxs-8 and MXS-12
Updates of the
firmware can be done via the transmitter's data connector
with the aid of a PC running under Windows XP, Vista, 7
or 8. The optional USB interface order no. 7168.6 and the
optional adapter cable order no. 7168.S are additionally
required. The programs, files and instructions additionally
required can be found at www.graupner.de under the
downloads for the particular product.
Important notices:
• Please note that fault-free communication
between the HoTT components used is only en-
sured with compatible firmware. For this rea-
son, the programs and files required for upda-
ting all HoTT
components have been assembled in a single file labeled
HoTT_Software_V4.zip.
• Use your transmitter only with the current software ver-
sion. As of manual revision this information is available
at http://www.graupner.de/de/supportdetail/cc489e1d-
0c1c-4cdd-a133-398d908bc27d. If this link is not working,
you can find the same information under: www.graupner.

• Be sure to check the charge status of the transmitter
battery or charge the battery as a precaution before eve-
ry update. Also backup all stored model settings to allow
them to be restored if necessary.
• The PC or laptop must not be disconnected during an
update! Consequently ensure a consistently uninterrupted
connection between the transmitter and the computer.
The same applies to any memory card update.
• After any update, be sure to check all models to verify
proper functioning.
Note:
Refer to the detailed updating instructions
for information on the updating procedure.
This information is available on our websi-
te under Update-Revisions-History. Please
download the 'Firmware Upgrade Studio' kit
for this purpose. It contains the update pro-
gram and the instructions.

mxs-12
The
GR-12+3G 2.4 GHz bidirectional receiver for connecting
up to six servos.
In order to establish a link to the transmitter, the Graupner
HoTT receiver must first be 'connected' to 'its' particular
Graupner HoTT transmitter. This procedure is known as
'binding'. Such 'binding', which is in fact required only
once for each transmitter/receiver combination (refer to
page 21), has been done at the factory for the units sup-
plied in the set, and you will need to perform binding only
for additional receivers (binding can be repeated anytime,
e.g. after changing transmitters).
After connecting the supplied HoTT receiver to a power
supply and powering it on, the LED on the receiver
consequently lights up red when 'its' transmitter is not
within range or switched off. Once a connection a made,
the LED no longer lights up.

Receiver installation

Regardless of which Graupner receiver system you use,
the procedure is always the same.
Please ensure that the receiver's antennas are mounted
at least 5 cm away from all large metal parts or any wiring
that is not directly routed out of the receiver itself. In ad-
dition to steel parts, this also includes carbon fiber parts,
servos, fuel pumps and all kinds of cables etc. Optimally
the receiver should be placed at a readily accessible loca-
tion that is well away from all other equipment. Under no
circumstances may servo cables be wrapped around the
antennas or routed close to it.
Please note that cables are subject to acceleration forces
which occur during flight, and such forces may cause
such cables to shift in position. Therefore ensure that any
cables in the vicinity of the antennas are not able to move.
Such moving cables can disturb reception.
Tests have shown that vertical (upright) antennas provide
the best results during wide-range flights. In the case of
diversity antennas (two antennas), the second antenna
should be mounted at a 90° angle to the first antenna.
Graupner receiver servo connections are numbered. The
power supply is bussed across all numbered connections
so it can be attached to any of these six connectors. If
required, a servo can also be connected parallel to the
power supply using a V or Y cable, order no. 3936.11.
