6. CAMERA MOUNTING
The tih table has slots provided to accomm0date the mounting of different camera / lens
combinations in many locations. Slots are provided in the table, and are 1/.1 inch wide to
accommodate a
t.4 - 20
screw.
It may be easier to mount the camera with the tilt table tilted up or
down which will give more room for your fingers to start the mounting screw.
NOTE: DO NOT A1TEMPT TO MOVE THE TILT TABLE OR PAN AXIS BY
HAND, OR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.
Use Serial or Switch Contact Motion Control to position the pan and tilt only. The pan and tilt
mechanics should not be moved manually. The unit should only be operated under power. If an
installer needs to move one of the motion channels the local manual control lines can be used on
the DB25 connector. See the section on Switch Contact - Manual Motion, ( Section 7B ).
Balance
The balance of the load should be placed such that the load is somewhat balanced in the center of
the travel. Some experimentation may be required to find the best balance for the lens / camera
combination. Cable weight must be taken into consideration when determining proper balance of
the
load.
For proper operation, provide strain relief for the cables, and allow sufficient cable to
permit the full range of motion required.
Mechanical Height
Some consideration should be made to the overall height of the camera / lens
combination.
If
absolute height is required to be at a
minimum,
center the load to achieve the minimum height at
the
extremes.
If this results in an unbalanced condition, performance may be
affected.
The unit
may run at labored speeds during manual movements. When the unit is sent to a preset
position,
the motors may run labored but significantly faster.
Maximum Weight
1be actual total weight which the unit will handle varies with where the weight is located.
Generally, if the center of gravity of the camera and lens is placed at center of the Tilt Table, the
pan
and tilt will move large loads up to 11 pounds if the load height is not very tall.
Manual Motion - Performance
1be unit is limited mostly when lifting large loads in the manual motion mode ( not going to a
preset )
from fully down or up. This is caused because the motors are pulse width modulated with
small pulses toause slower motion. When the speed is set to quite slow settings, the motors are
not as capable of moving large loads.
If you will be moving a camera / lens load mostly between
a
fuDy down to horizontal position.
try
mounting the load far back to move the center of gravity
back.
