Maintenance Overview The NAS-2108RW requires no routine service. Cleaning Caution: DO NOT immerse NAS-2108RW in liquid or use caustic or abrasive cleaners. To clean NAS-2108RW, dampen a soft cloth with any commercial nonabrasive cleaner available in the market and wipe clean. Before cleaning, make sure that the system is turned off. -

Page 21: Chapter 7 Reinstalling Firmware
9, “Factory Default Setup.” Replacing Flash Module Since November 2003, NAS-2108RW uses the NASWare flash module (Disk-on-module) to store its firmware. This NASWare flash module is connected to the main board via a 44-pin IDE socket. There is no need to re-install the firmware, just replaces the NASWare flash module when failed. -

Before save the BIOS settings, put the Firmware Recovery CD into the CD-ROM drive. Select SAVE & EXIT SETUP to reboot. After system restarts, the following menu will appear on the screen.

After the installation completes, the system will compare the checksum automatically to verify. If succeeds, the system will have a continuous beep sound. If fails, the system will make beep sound at one second interval.

Hard Drive Installation Procedure Overview The NAS-2108RW can install up to two 3.5” IDE hard disk drives. To make the system ready for access, install at least one hard drive to the NAS-2108RW. Then refer to the chapter 9, “Factory Default Setup”, for steps to configure the installed hard drives into one disk volume. - Page 27 NAS-2108RW NETWORK ATTACHED STORAGE SERVICE MANUAL Put the hard disk onto the drive plate and fasten eight screws as shown below.
