Before operating on your NAS-4100, please read this user manual carefully for thorough understanding on its functions.   • Page 4: Chapter 2 Routine Maintenance

    Maintenance Overview The NAS-4100 requires no routine service. Cleaning Caution: DO NOT immerse NAS-4100 in liquid or use caustic or abrasive cleaners. To clean NAS-4100, dampen a soft cloth with any commercial nonabrasive cleaner available in the market and wipe clean. Before cleaning, make sure that the system is turned off.

    NAS-4100 NETWORK ATTACHED STORAGE SERVICE MANUAL Using this Document Failures of the top cover, the drive tray and the front panel assembly are determined by visually inspecting these components for cracks or deformations and for mechanical failures. Use the troubleshooting guide provided in this chapter to isolate failure to the main board, the LCD module, the power supply, the case fan, or the hard disks.

Take out the hard disks: a. Press on both sides of the front panel where the red arrow indicated to unlock the side latches so as open the front panel in a downward manner.

Detach the CPU heat sink: Unfasten the screws circled in red and then unplug power connector to remove CPU heat sink.
  • Page 13 NAS-4100 NETWORK ATTACHED STORAGE SERVICE MANUAL 6. Detach the front panel assembly: a. Flip open the front panel of NAS then unfasten the six screws found at the back of the panel. b. Unplug the two LCD Module cable connectors then remove front panel assembly.

Unfasten ten screws on main board to take off main board from drive tray.（Please make sure that hard disk(s) and power supplies are disconnected beforehand.） 8. Detach the SCSI and serial connectors: a. First, unfasten the fours screws found on the stand where SCSI/COM port flat cables are located and then you can remove the stand.

Detach the central case fans: Unfasten the four screws as shown below: 10. Detach the chassis side fans: a. Unfasten all screws and remove the fans located on both sides of the chassis.

    Hard Drive Installation Procedure Overview The NAS-4100 has four hot-swap drive bays, and can install up to four 3.5” IDE hard disk drives. To make the system ready for access, install the hard drives to the NAS-4100. Then refer to the chapter 9, “Factory Default Setup”, for steps to configure the installed hard drives into one disk volume.

    The console cables are included in the NAS-4100 Service Kits, which can be ordered as a spare part. Note: Refer to Chapter 6, Spare Parts for ordering the service kits. Please follow below figure to connect the console cable to the NAS-4100 main board. Keyboard Note: Please connect the VGA cable properly.
