A 2016 E-Z-GO RXV Freedom electric cart making noise, losing speed, and emitting a hot smell after moving about 10 feet in forward mode could be caused by several issues:

1. Motor Overheating – A failing or overloaded motor can generate excessive heat, leading to a burning smell and loss of power.
2. Brake System Malfunction – If the electric brake is not releasing properly, it could cause resistance, noise, and overheating.
3. Battery or Controller Issues – A weak or failing battery or a damaged speed controller could cause power loss and excessive heat.
4. Electrical Connection Problems – Loose or corroded wiring could lead to high resistance, overheating, and performance issues.
5. Mechanical Drag – A problem with the drivetrain, such as a seized bearing or dragging brake, could cause noise, reduced speed, and heat buildup.

It is recommended to inspect the motor, brake system, battery connections, and drivetrain components for signs of damage or overheating.
