Feeding Validation Paper
1. The current supply for the paper holder switching sole-
noid is held in the ON state by an external signal. When
the paper holder lever set is moved in the direction of the
, the form stopper set leaves the paper path (the state
indicated by the dotted lines in Figure 2-22). This is the
state when the validation paper is inserted from the top
of the printer.

2. After the validation paper is inserted, the cut sheet
sensor detects the bottom edge of the validation paper
and outputs the detection signal. When this signal is
received, current is supplied to the platen switching
solenoid, moving the platen holder unit. Note that the
current to the platen switching solenoid is maintained in
the hold state until printing is completed.
3. Once the platen holder unit moves, the intermediate
drive roller set built into the platen holder unit contacts
the intermediate holder roller set so that the validation
paper is sandwiched. The validation paper is then fed
upwards by the rotation of the intermediate drive roller
and intermediate holder roller sets.
4. When the cut sheet sensor detects the end of the
validation paper, it turns off the current supply to the
paper holder switching solenoid.

Platen switching mechanism
The platen switching mechanism consists of the parts
shown in Figure 2-24. This mechanism is designed to feed
the cut sheet accurately, from the start of printing until the
end of the paper is detected.

the platen holder unit is moved by the platen switching
solenoid, the V movable lever does not perform the

roller set.
