CAUTION
When attached to the mobile computer, the MSR has the following attributes:
Provides power for operating the mobile computer, with the appropriate power connection.
Allows the mobile computer to capture data from magnetic stripe cards. (To download MSR data capture
software, visit: http://devzone.symbol.com.)
NOTE When a mobile computer with Windows Mobile 5.0 is connected to a host computer through the MSR and
an ActiveSync connection is made, the WLAN and WWAN radios (if applicable) are disabled. This is a
Microsoft security feature to prevent connection to two networks at the same time.
Provides serial connection through the serial pass-through port for communication with a serial device,
such as a host computer.
Provides USB connection through the USB pass-through port for communication with a USB device,
such as a host computer.
Charges the mobile computer's battery, when used with the appropriate power supply.

Attaching and Removing

To attach, snap the MSR onto the bottom of the mobile computer.

To remove, squeeze the latch grips and pull the MSR from the mobile computer.
NOTE Remove the MSR from the bottom of the mobile computer before using a cradle for charging and
communication.
Use only a Symbol approved power supply output rated 12 VDC and minimum 3.3 A. Use of an
alternative power supply will void the product warranty and may cause product damage. See
Appendix C, Regulatory
for the power supply regulatory compliance statement.
