Inclement weather and darkness won't interfere with your workout when you use your Horizon Fitness upright bike in the comfort of your home. This manual provides you with basic information for using and enjoying your new machine.
G E T T I N G S T A R T E D POWER Your Focus 407 upright bike is powered by 4 C batteries or a power supply. The bat- teries are replaceable through the back side of the console. The power supply must be plugged into the power jack, which is located in the rear foot tube.
MOVING Your Horizon Fitness upright bike has a pair of transport wheels built into the front or the frame. To move, firmly grasp both of the handlebars. Carefully pull towards you and downwards, so that the rear foot tube raises off of the floor, once the weight of the machine is on the front transport wheels carefully roll to where you wish to exer- cise.
QUICK START UP Your Focus 407 is powered by 4 C batteries or a power supply. 1. Sit down and place your feet on the pedals, adjust the pedal straps. 2. Press the 'START' button to begin exercising. To set the timer to count up as you exercise.
P R O G R A M M I N G STARTING YOUR WORKOUT Press the ' START ' button to begin exercising FINISHING YOUR WORKOUT Remember to gradually slow down your pace before stopping your workout. After you have finished your workout, the console will 'beep' several times to let you know your workout is finished.

U S I N G Y O U R H R C P R O G R A M Once HRC quick program key is selected, wait for 5 seconds and you will see the tar- get heart rate flashing in the Heart Rate window. Using the chart on page16, deter- mine your target heart rate.
Center the chest strap just below the breast or pectoral muscles, directly overyour stermum, with the Horizon Fitness logo facing out. NOTE: The chest strap must be tight and properly placed to receive an accurate and consistent readout.
T A R G E T H E A R T R A T E Z O N E Your `Target Heart Rate Zone' is a percentage of your maximum heart rate. Target Zoneswill vary for each individual, depending on age, current level of conditioning, and personal fitness goals.
TROUBLESHOOTING YOUR UPRIGHT BIKE Your Horizon Fitness upright bike is designed to be reliable and maintenance free. However, if you do experience problems with your upright bike, please reference the troubleshooting guide listed below. PROBLEM: There is no display on the console.

PROBLEM: Erratic or inconsistent Readout. SOLUTION: This is often caused by dry electrodes or a loose chest strap. Moisture on the rubber electrodes is required for proper operation. Try a more generous coat- ing of water on the electrodes and tightening the chest strap. Chest your exercise environment for sources of interference such as high power lines, large motors, etc.
CAN I MOVE THE BIKE TRAINER EASIER ONCE IT IS ASSEMBLED? Your Horizon Fitness Upright Bike has a pair of transport wheels built into the front foot. It is easy to move your Upright Bike by rolling it on the front transport wheels.
E X E R C I S E G U I D E L I N E S Always consult your physician before beginning an exercise program. HOW OFTEN? The American Heart Association recommends that you exercise at least 3 to 4 days per week to maintain cardiovascular fitness.
D E V E L O P I N G A F I T N E S S P R O G R A M STRETCH FIRST Before using your Horizon Fitness product, it is best to take a few minutes doing a few gentle stretching exercises. Stretching prior to exercise will improve flexibility and reduce chances of exercise related injury.
An important step in developing a long term fitness program is to determine your goals. Is your primary goal for exercising on your Horizon Fitness Upright bike to lose weight? Improve muscle? Burn Stress? Prepare for the spring racing schedule? Knowing what your goals are will help you develop a more successful exercise pro- gram.
