The Yamaha generator EDL7000SE may continue to run after turning the key to the stop position if the terminal cover is open. The manual states that opening the terminal cover while the engine is running will activate the emergency stop system. If the cover is not open, the emergency stop system may not engage, and the engine may not stop as expected.

I had encountered a problem with my Yamaha EDL7000SE Diseal Engine Generator.
The problem is that, the generator starts off normally then after 1 hour the sound of the generator reduces and the electric appliances (e.g the lights goes off and on again) and on the generator the battery indicator comes on.
What will be the possible cause of this problem and how can I fix this problem?

Possible causes and solutions for a Yamaha EDL7000SE Diesel Engine Generator that starts normally but loses power after one hour, with the battery indicator coming on:
1. Low Engine Oil Pressure - Cause: Oil pressure may drop below the required range (68.7 to 127.5 kPa), triggering a warning and affecting engine performance. - Solution: Check and refill engine oil to the correct level. Inspect for leaks and replace the oil filter if necessary.
2. Overheating - Cause: Cooling water temperature may rise to 112-118°C, triggering the overheat warning lamp and reducing engine power. - Solution: Check the coolant level and radiator for blockages. Ensure the cooling fan and thermostat are working properly.
3. Faulty Battery or Charging System - Cause: The charge warning lamp indicates a problem with the battery or charging system, which may lead to insufficient power supply. - Solution: Inspect the battery connections, charge the battery, and test the alternator output. Replace faulty components if needed.
4. Fuel System Issues - Cause: Clogged fuel filter, water contamination, or fuel line blockages can reduce fuel flow, leading to power loss. - Solution: Check and replace the fuel filter, drain water from the fuel system, and inspect fuel lines for blockages.
5. Electrical Faults - Cause: Damaged wiring or rodent interference can disrupt the generator’s operation. - Solution: Inspect and repair damaged wires or connectors. Ensure proper grounding and insulation of electrical components.
6. Airflow Restrictions - Cause: Blocked air filter or exhaust system may reduce engine efficiency. - Solution: Clean or replace the air filter and check the exhaust system for obstructions.
If the problem persists after these checks, consult a Yamaha dealer for further diagnosis.
