Speaker settings

A
Refer to "Changing the settings" (\ page 41).
For the United Kingdom
Do these settings if you connect center and surround speakers.
For others
You can enjoy multi-channel audio from DVDs without doing these
settings. Change them to improve the effect or when you connect a
subwoofer.
Speaker mode (United Kingdom only)
Set the presence and size of the speakers you have connected.
The sound for a speaker channel will not be output if you set the
presence incorrectly.

You will not get the most from your speakers if you set the size

incorrectly.

ı shows the default screen for the United Kingdom.
Use illustration Å as a guide to select the center and surround
speakers.
Press the cursor buttons (w er q) to select

the speaker and press [ENTER].
Press the cursor buttons (e or r) to change

the setting.
The speaker icon appears.

Press [ENTER].
This confirms the size of the speaker, small or large, and the
icons for speaker balance ("dB") and delay time ("ms")
appear.
Note
¡Set to "small" if you connect the recommended optional center
and surround speaker system (SB-PT96).
¡You cannot change the size and presence of the front speakers
(L and R) or the subwoofer (SW).
Channel balance
Adjust the balance of the center and surround speakers using the
test signal so that they are the same apparent level as the front
speakers when you are sitting where you would normally enjoy a
source. First adjust the unit's volume to the level normally used.

"Test" and press [ENTER].
A test signal is output in the following order:
L / C / R / RS / LS
Press the cursor buttons (e or r) to adjust

the level while the speaker is outputting the
signal.

Press [ENTER ] to stop the test signal.
To adjust subwoofer output
After playing a source to determine the approximate level, stop play
and return to this screen to adjust the level to your taste.
When you have finished changing the settings
Press the cursor buttons to select "Exit" and press [ENTER].
