MAIN STEPS The main steps involved in the S900 Scancopier installation are listed below and expanded as required in the following sections. (A particular installation will depend on the range of optional items involved, and it is assumed that the customer’s printer is already operational.)
Update Tool (Printer Profile Utility): to enable you to update your printer color profiles and firmware (not normally required). TWAIN Utility: to provide a driver for your S900 Scancopier to enable you to scan documents. Unimessage Pro Utility: to enable you to carry out a range of functions such as creating and sending messages, e-mailing or faxing scanned documents.

CHECKING INSTALLATION SPACE The Scancopier can be placed on either a table top or other suitable level surface adjacent to the printer or can be mounted on an optional stand and cabinet arrangement. If the user already has a Finisher (1), it will be mounted on a cabinet (2) attached to the printer (3) and the stand (4) for the Scancopier (5) will attach to the cabinet.

INSTALLING THE FIREWIRE CARD Turn OFF the printer to be used with the Scancopier. Loosen the two screws and remove the cover from the lower option slot (1). Insert the Firewire card (2) into the option slot and secure it with the two thumbscrews (3).
Create a temporary folder on the hard disk of your laptop PC. Double-click the OkiDownloadTool.exe to launch the tool: Ensure that no non-USB cables are connected to the printer and then connect the PC to the printer via the USB cable. English UNLOCKING THE SCANNING HEAD To protect the scanning head from damage during shipment, the Scancopier is designed with a lock switch on the side of the main unit. Therefore, BEFORE USING, THE MACHINE MUST BE UNLOCKED by moving the lock switch to the Use position. 1.
INSTALLING THE ADF Remove the standard Scancopier document cover (1) by opening it and lifting upwards to remove the inserts (2) from the holes at the rear of the Scancopier. Store the document cover on a flat surface in a safe place. Hold the ADF document cover (3) and lower it to engage the inserts into the holes (4) at the rear of the Scancopier.

Do not connect the S900 to the printer until the printer is turned ON and displaying ON-LINE in its operator panel. > You can leave the S900 switched ON at all times as it has a built-in power saving function. Press the Scancopier power switch (1) to the “0” position to ensure the Scancopier is turned off.

As part of the warm-up message, the Scancopier LCD display shows the installed Firmware version number and the Color Table version number. NOTE The default installed Color Table is for the ES 3037 printer. To set up your Scancopier for use with a ES3937e printer, use the Additional Settings button as described in the following section.

English Double-click on Install Update Tool and follow the on-screen instructions. Double-click on Install Unimessage Pro + TWAIN and follow the on-screen instructions, referring to the Unimessage Pro User’s Guide for detailed instructions. When you have completed installation, click on the icon in the lower right of the screen to close the installation session.
Save Settings button (See Appendix A). The functional checks involve copying and scanning from the flatbed glass and ADF using the S900 control panel, full details of which are given in the S900 Scancopier User’s Guide supplied in electronic form on the CD that accompanies the Scancopier.
COPYING NOTE You can use the following functional checks as a demonstration of basic operation to the user. Load an example single-page color document to be copied. Place the document face down on the glass, aligned to the top left corner (1) of the glass. Enter your copy count via the Copy Count panel.

English Make your copies Press the Color button (4) to toggle between color copying (illuminated) and black and white copying (not illuminated). Press the Copy button (5) while the Color button (4) is illuminated. Visually check that the expected copy results are obtained by comparing with the original.
The user can use the Scancopier to scan images using either a proprietary application or using Unimessage Pro (in conjunction with the TWAIN software). These methods are described in the S900 Scancopier User’s Guide and the Unimessage Pro User’s Guide, to which you should direct the user.

English APPENDIX A – ADDITIONAL SETTINGS OPTIONS Since the factory default settings for the S900 may not match a particular application, you can set up user defaults by using the Additional Settings button in conjunction with the adjacent Arrow Keys. Having made the user settings, use the Save Settings button to save them as the new default.

Start the Print Control Utility and add the S900 Scancopier as a printer that acquires Print log. After adding the S900, set the User ID. Add "100000" at the front of the 4-digit S900 PIN to create a 10-digit number, and register it. Example: "1000001234" is the resulting number when the S900 PIN is "1234".
