fuselage, using thickened epoxy. Be sure to roughen up the inside of the canopy with abrasive paper
before gluing. The canopy pin is likewise bonded into the channel in the hardwood support – such that
the pin protrudes about 15mm from the front of the support to engage with the rim of the fuselage
opening. Once cured, test fit the canopy, and use a 3mm drill or suitable round file to form a recess in
the forward rim of the fuselage opening to accommodate the canopy pin. Re-check and trim carefully
until a perfect fit is achieved.
The rearward canopy fixing is made using the steel wire spring which is first bent into shape. Bend the
wire in a U - shape, and bond it in place on the underside of the canopy such that the spring protrudes
by about 25mm from the rear underside edge of the canopy. The spring is bonded to the inside of the
canopy and held in place with a small piece of plywood and a little thickened epoxy. Again, be sure to
roughen up the inside of the canopy with abrasive paper before bonding the steel spring in place.

Insert the V-Tail control horns.

First form a right angle bend in the supplied steel wire horns at a point about 10mm from the ends –
thus forming two small torque rods. Now drill a Ø 2 mm hole into the leading edge of both elevator
halves and form a narrow groove from the end of each elevator half to the point where you made the
hole – just deep enough to accommodate the wire control horn. Check the installation of both control
horns for symmetry and re-bend as necessary. Then glue the horns into place making sure that the ends
are glued firmly into the width of the elevators and the thickness of the wire is buried into the groove.
Take care to remove any surplus adhesive.
V - Tail Assembly.
Carefully mark two points on the rear underside of the fuselage, 30 mm and 70 mm respectively from
the tail. Position the supplied wooden V-Tail retainer in the V-Tail seat and temporarily secure with
tape. Now carefully drill two Ø 3.2 mm holes from the underside of the fuselage, into the wooden V-
Tail retainer, but take care not to drill right through the V-Tail retainer. Next remove the V-Tail
retainer and insert the two supplied self-tapping screw inserts and fix in place with a drop of instant
adhesive. Now open out the two holes in the underside of the fuselage to accommodate the screw
heads. Transfer the position of the two holes in the tail mount to the V-Tail halves and file away four
semi-circles, so as to form two holes to accommodate the mounting screws. Finally join the two V-
Tail halves with a small piece of matching vinyl covering film to form a folding hinge and cover the
wooden retainer.
You now have an easily removable and folding V-Tail for ultimate ease of transport and storage of
your model. However, if you prefer, the V-Tail halves can also be simply glued in place using suitably
thickened epoxy, but remember to first remove any covering film at the point where the V-Tail halves
are joined to the fuselage to ensure a good joint.

Servo Mounting Tray (*)

Position the servo mounting tray with the rear edge aligned with the rear fuselage canopy opening.
Mark the position inside the fuselage opening with pencil, making sure that both Bowden cable outer
lie over the servo mounting tray. Secure with a few drops of instant adhesive and then glue firmly in
place with a suitably thickened epoxy.
