    Introduction >>> 1.1 MSI MP54G5 Wireless 11g MiniPCI Card The MSI MP54G5 Wireless 11g MiniPCI Card, is a Type IIIB card, which can be used to integrate with such systems as notebook, mini-barebone and portable PC. With MSI MP54G5 Wireless 11g MiniPCI Card embedded inside, a system could provide users with the ability and flexibility to connect up to Internet wirelessly via 802.11g with speed up to 54Mbps.

    Hardware Installation The following diagrams provide you a basic installation for your MSI MP54G5 Wireless 11g MiniPCI Card. The instruction below is suitable for most computers with MiniPCI slot. For more information about the MiniPCI module, please refer to your computer’s manual.

    Setup CD to copy files during the installation. Please NOTE that the MSI MP54G5 Wireless 11g MiniPCI Card should be installed into your computer before installing the driver and utility. Then, the operating system will detect a new device and start to configure the new device.

    >>> 3.1 Software Setup After installing the MSI MP54G5 Wireless 11g MiniPCI Card to your computer and then turning on the computer, the operat- ing system will detect a new device and start the configuraton automatically. Please CANCEL the pop-up window from Found New Hardare Wizard to install necessary driver and utility from the InstallShield Wizard of your Software CD.
  • Page 17 The program will copy the necessary files to the system. The ST EP progress indicator shall show the installing status. Click Finish when the installation is completed. The MSI Wire- ST EP less LAN icon will appear in the status area.

    Networking Setup Since the MSI MP54G5 Wireless 11g MiniPCI Card is in- stalled in your computer, you have to configure the settings for communication to start working in your network environment. >>> 4.1 Infrastructure Mode Infrastructure mode allows your computer to communicate with the other computers in the network through an Access Point.

  • Page 22 After click Add to bring up the Configuration dialogue ST EP window as below. Profile Name: User chose name for this profile. SSID: User can key in the intended SSID name or use pull . Power Save Mode: Choose from CAM (Constantly Awake Mode) or Power Saving Mode.

    - All the computers connected should be set to Ad-hoc mode. - The computers have the same SSID (network name) setting. To build the Ad-hoc network: Click the MSI Wireless LAN icon to bring up the ST EP Wireless Network Connection window. Then, click Profile tab. Click Add.
