To adjust the carburetor on your Husqvarna 129C trimmer, specifically the idle speed:
If the idle speed cannot be adjusted so that the cutting attachment stops, contact your dealer or service workshop. Do not use the machine until it has been correctly adjusted or repaired.
To remove the trimmer head from your Husqvarna 129C:
The correct fuel mixture ratio for the Husqvarna 129C trimmer is 50:1 (2%) with HUSQVARNA XP two-stroke oil. Always use a quality petrol/oil mixture of at least 90 octane (RON). If your machine has a catalytic converter, always use a good quality unleaded petrol/oil mixture; leaded petrol will destroy the catalytic converter. Ethanol blended fuel, E10, may be used (max 10% ethanol blend). Using ethanol blends higher than E10 will create lean running conditions which can cause engine damage.
Your Husqvarna 129C trimmer may be losing power during operation if the spark plug is dirty or has an incorrect electrode gap. In this case, you should clean the spark plug and check that the electrode gap is 0.5/0.6 mm. Other factors that can influence spark plug condition and lead to operating problems include incorrect carburetor adjustment, an incorrect fuel mixture (too much or incorrect type of oil), or a dirty air filter.
To check or replace the spark plug on your Husqvarna 129C trimmer:
Factors that influence spark plug condition include:
These factors can cause deposits on the spark plug electrodes, leading to operating problems and starting difficulties.
For best results and performance, use HUSQVARNA XP two-stroke engine oil, which is specially formulated for air-cooled two-stroke engines. Never use two-stroke oil intended for water-cooled engines (sometimes referred to as outboard oil rated TCW) or oil intended for four-stroke engines. A poor oil quality or too high oil/fuel ratio may jeopardize function and decrease the lifetime of catalytic converters.
The air filter must be regularly cleaned to remove dust and dirt. You should clean the filter every 25 hours, or more regularly if conditions are exceptionally dusty.
To clean the air filter:
An air filter that has been in use for a long time cannot be cleaned completely and must be replaced at regular intervals. A damaged air filter must always be replaced.
If the machine is used in dusty conditions, the air filter should be soaked in oil.
The bevel gear is filled with the correct quantity of grease at the factory. Before using the machine, you should check that the bevel gear is filled three-quarters full with grease. Use HUSQVARNA special grease. The grease in the bevel gear does not normally need to be changed unless repairs are carried out.
You should check the fuel filter for contamination and the fuel hose for cracks or other defects annually. Replace it if necessary.
If your muffler is fitted with a spark arrestor mesh, you should clean the mesh at least once a month, preferably with a wire brush. For mufflers without a catalytic converter, the mesh should be cleaned weekly or replaced if necessary. For mufflers with a catalytic converter, the mesh should be checked and, if necessary, cleaned monthly. A blocked mesh can cause the machine to overheat and lead to damage to the cylinder and piston.
You should check the fuel lines for cracks or other defects annually. Replace them if necessary.
