Maintaining and servicing your locomotive

Servicing the traction tires

Y
our locomotive is packed with traction tires. Due to the short wheel base of this scale model,
some track and switch layouts may cause the locomotive to lose power when the traction
tires are installed and the locomotive operates at slow speeds.
If you choose to operate you locomotive with traction tires, simply slip the tires around the
grooved wheels.
Maintaining your locomotive's pantograph antenna
Y
our locomotive's pantographs are more than just a protypically accurate detail—they're the
Command reverse unit's antenna for receiving Command Base digital communications.
Please handle the locomotive carefully to avoid damage to the pantographs. To ensure
optimum reception, both pantographs are insulated from the die-cast metal shell.
The pantographs are not intended to pick up power from overhead catenary; however,
Note!
the pantographs are sprung so that they can follow non-powered overhead catanary
lines.
